Hi Pete, Just had a 'normal' result from DaTscan after six years dx with PD - never heard of PSP before! waiting for neuro appointment.

Hi. I was diagnosed with Parkinson's in October 2012. Then as nothing in the way of medication was working I was referred for a Dat Scan which was described as the creme de la creme of a Parkinson's diagnosis scan which would confirm if you have Parkinson's or not. My Dat Scan came back normal so the neurologist has referred me to another more specialised neurologist in the Walton Centre in Liverpool to be seen in a cognitive clinic. I have already been told that I do not have Parkinson's since my Dat Scan came back normal but I do have something quite similar. My appointment is on April 19th. Reading the story about PSP on this website makes me think that I could very well have this PSP.

Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, similiar to Parkinsons but with much nastier outcome. There is a PSP forum on this website.

My husband is still considered to be Parkinson's since the meds still help after 4 years, but he is developing some PSP symptoms, causing the neuro to suspect conmorbitant PSP. He has involuntary eye closing (that he struggles to reopen), and occasional stiffening and thrusting out of his legs while seated in his wheelchair. Not sure what a DATscan is or if he's had it.
