I'm wondering if anybody has tried Neurofeedback for motor symptoms of Parkinsons, most specifically for tremors.

Neurofeedback
Hi nina. What do you mean by "Neurofeedback". Is it a book or what?
John
Hi John, "Neurofeedback" is a method of training your brain to work more effectively and efficiently. It's done by a trained Neurofeedback professional placing electrodes on your head and you watch a computer screen that goes through a series of visual and auditory prompts which is training the brain to work at its peak of effectiveness. Maybe a very easy way to explain would be to say you are doing a workout for your brain but a very sophisticated work out. I hope this helps.

Hi Nina. Thanks for this info. Are you aware that the healthy brain constantly feeds back information from one area of the brain to another to give warnings of events such as the need to defecate or urinate. It also warns us of obstacles in our path, when we are walking or running. We are not consciously aware of many of these warnings but they are there to keep us safe. Those are the neurofeedback messages I was stalking about. Those messages don't always get to where they belong in the Pd brain. and we therefore are often in danger of falling or injuring ourselves or merely wetting out pants.
John
I have been trying to get this going for a year or more-my neuro is supposed to be opening up a clinic. Meanwhile look on ParkinsonsRecovery.com
I'd be interested in it whatever it is for rigidity.
I tried it. It did nothing. It was a waste of time and money.
Is that the same as bio-feedback? I imagine bio-feed might work, as it helps you get control of some physiological processes and helps you relax
.
I'm not 100% sure but yes i believe its the same. However from my understanding it does help in ways that go beyond helping you relax. The goal to my knowledge is to train those parts of our brain that aren't working well reach there maximum level of functioning. best, nina
