I saw a huge difference within 3 days, my mind cleared, tremors were under control and could walk without falling.

Rasagiline is not supposed to do anything for the symptoms. Its purpose is to slow the progression only. I have been on it for 1 1/2 years.

rasagiline is a MAO-I that preserves dopamine

Hi Park4me,

That's what I've been told by the Neurologist also but apparently it does work for some peoples symptoms, like Susie01 above and others I've read.

I have never felt better by taking it - and wouldnt know if I would progress faster, unless I stopped taking it. I guess I am trusting the doctor. I am on it and mirapex only and trying to avoid sinemet as long as possible, although some are saying they prefer sinemet over mirapex. So confusing!

Rasagiline is Azilect and you have to get a Rx from the doctor.

Rasagaline is a generic that the US does not have yet. I get from Canada for 40.00 a month which includes shipping.

may i ask who the manufacturer is? generics sometimes aren't close to being as effective as the brand name even though i don't think azilect would be hard to duplicate and TEVA has sued another generic company to delay their generic azilect.

Check with Canadapharmacyonline.com. I checked with my doctor and a pharmacist and they supported me purchasing there. The pharmacist said many drugs we take are manufactured in other countries. This is a very reputable company and wont fill the meds without calling your doctor for verification and having a prescrption order. And the reps are able to be understood and speak clear English!

what is the NDC # on the prescription label, that will identify the mfg. if there is no NDC# on the label then i wouldn't touch it with a 10foot pole. i assume canada requires that to be printed on the label like it is in the U.S.?

I dont know what the ndc# is but this is what the label says:

Made in India by SUN PHARMA MEDICATION PVT. LTD

IGC PHASE 1 SAMBA 18412 (J &K)

B NO. EAM0470

As others have said, Rasagiline and azilect is one and the same. Azilect is the brand name and rasagiline is the chemical name. All MAO-b inhibitors work on improving the retention of the dopamine in the brain, instead of putting levodopa into the brain, which turns it into dopamine. The only side effect of azilect or eldepryl is the tendency to cause raised blood pressure. This is because they also inhibit the breakdown of tyramine in the body, which causes the raised blood pressure. I am not a doctor, but you would be well advised to go onto Google and look up - Tyramine, food - and that will give you a list of food that you should avoid if you are taking azilect or any of the others.

Everyone told me it may take up to 2 months but it started working for me in the first week, best I've felt in year.
