With many speaking of stress how many experienced an extremely stressful childhood? I am not just speaking of child abuse.

Do you feel there is any correlation between too much stress in younger years

which leads to chronic fatigue and a diagnosis of P.D.?

I believe it has. I have not been abused, but had a stressful childhood and also a stressful first marriage! I am on anti depressants and that makes my life so easy.

this stands to reason, IMO. Family tensions, poverty, parents struggling to make a living all can make for a less than healthful environment. Schools that are underperforming, lack of $ for further education, the constant struggle to make you way in the world all take their toll. I know, this is life. But when my husband and I were growing up, our parents really struggled. Add in abuse or neglect and you have a stressed child who is constantly striving to find ways to cope and to make his or her life better.

My husband was never abused but he's hyper-vigilant and worried about details (like are all the doors locked at night). His anxiety level can be high because he feels vulnerable now (due to his PD). I think this anxiety came from his childhood where he had to pursue ever opportunity and work diligently (and long and hard) to make his life a success, rarely taking vacations, etc. How many PD patients were workaholics in life?

Hi David: I wish they would do a study on this. Did you also grow up near an agricultural area? I think there are more factors than we know of. Choose to be a survivor and not a victim. I am empowering myself by exercising. PD symptoms are less severe and my legs are so much stronger. Take good care.

Anxiety packs a biochemical wallop which over time can deal a blow to the immune system. When I get a little time today I'll try to find a study I once read that was a real revelation.
