I am facing the decision to have DBS . Comments, pros/cons from those of you with experience? Statistics on success rate? I am 48 years,
DBS gave me back my life!! IT is not an easy road but neither was shaking inside and outside 24/7. Good luck, God bless !!
I had Lymes (deer tick)disease mis diagnostic 6 yrs = after 1-1/2 yrs of IV antibiotics 2 hrs day 4 days a week got rid of the Lymes but left nerve damage enter Parkinson. It s been 12 yrs I am 56 I had DBS 2 yrs ago this April.NORMAL is ??? I guess I do as much as I can do, I feel this disease was given to me t help some else walk this path,my knowledge will help. So I keep busy, I also was going to have DBS surgery 2 yrs earlier at a different hospital and it didn't feel right so I waited and that was the best decision made! So if you can't decide maybe there is a reason follow your heart! Keep us posted here.
For the correct patients and symptoms and a good surgeon the statistics can be very much in your favor.
Hi Amazin I was interested in your question I am also considering DBS so was eagerly awaiting some positive replys but am disappointed there was so little feedback come on fellow sufferers tell us your experiences all the best for your decision Amazin. Sunnysky
I had a very successful DBS surgery. I was 59 when I had the surgery. It improved my quality of life. Without the DBS, I probably would be walking with a cane or walker. If you are a candidate I would recommend proceeding with the surgery.
