Tremoring much more during the week at work than the weekend. Probably due to stress of work and trying to hide pd. can anyone relate?

Work or no work, my husband tremors way more in the morning and during the day and less in the evening. I know that stress affects tremor, but with him I wonder if there is some pattern of neurotransmitters that are naturally at their peak in the morning and lowest at the end of the day. I know that cortisol follows this pattern, and it is an adrenal hormone (as is adrenaline) and related to stress.

I find that stress in any form - and it doesn't take much to stress me - affects my tremor and reduces the effectiveness of my medication. I am particularly stressed in social gatherings - which is not a Pd gathering - where I am obliged to increase the doses of my medication or go home early shuffling like an old man

I am best in the morning (I don't take my meds until between 09.30 and 10.30 - depending on what I am doing) and even go for boxing training at 11.00, am pretty good in the afternoon but can fade away in the evening

I have been diagnosed 11 years next June

Stress does it to me every time. The higher the stress, the more severe the tremors. Totaly uncontrollable.

Hi afflyerman

Have you tried acupuncture. I just had my first treatment for stress and when the last needle was inserted the tremor stopped completely. Only lasted a minute and I got emotional, which ruined the response. Might be worth a try ?

Hi Setwar,

I only tried acupuncture one time in my life and not for PD. Thanks for suggesting this. I forgot about this possibility.

You say you are hiding your PD at work? We have found that things get easier the more people you tell. It get's it out in the open and helps others help you with access to adjustments to your workplace.

not only is it easier when people know the truth, [because they may well think you have a drinking or drug problem] But also you protect your ADA rights by letting the company know you have Parkinson's before they call you in about your work.

I can relate to this so much. Some days my tremors are uncontrollable and livable, then some days they are very much off the wire. Learn how to meditate and learn relaxation therapies. Good luck for we are all in this together.

I have just stopped working, i never told my employer or colleagues about Parkinsons, it wasa daily challenge! have you thought about coming out? It may reduce stress and in turn shaking

Do you have tremors along with PD? Do you go to a movement disorder specialist? My husband has both, he is still working through 3 DBS surgeries. He was awake during all surgeries, his outcome is great. He refused the surgery for 3 years, once he got to the point of no relief an no sleep, he consented to the surgery. doing well now
