I have not heard that and I take flomax. What exactly were you told?

I have been told that flomax can increase orthostatic hypotension which could be worse at night... sleepy and going to pee.

Orthostatic what?

Orthostatic Hypotension - also called postural hypotension

Hypotension is low blood pressure, and orthostatic hypotension is when your blood pressure drops suddenly on standing, you get a head rush or dizzy spell.

You may remember having your blood pressure taken twice on a medical visit - first lying then standing. This is to see if it drops when you stand.

PD medication can sometimes cause this especially dopamine agonists. (Flomax is not a PD specific medication)

I hope this is helpful.

That's very interesting to read. I think it explains my dizzy spells when I stand up - I've gotten them since I've been on the Flomax ! I no longer take any dopamine agonists since they DIS-inhibited me and made me spend my life's savings.

a major side effect of the flomax is drop in blood pressure when you stand.. this caused my husband to black out, fall to the ground and in the fall rip his rotator cuff requiring surgery,, lots of problems with dimentia now from the surgery..

My husband had to stop the Flomax due to orthostatic hypotension.

I had the Dr out on Friday, and we spoke about this..

He was shocked I knew of this problem that the flomax caused orthostatic hypotension (low blood pressure on standing). And when I asked if he was sure it was a prostrate problem and not a case of NEUROGENIC BLADDER.he admitted he could not be sure since he has only been Robs Dr for a few months and he assumed the previous Dr had done testings, I told him there had been no tests just ordered the medication since Rob had a dribble issue over 4 years ago, he thanked me for good record keeping and would run a set of PSA blood work testings this upcoming week.. I recomed to everyone that ANYTIME blood tests are taken request a copy for your own records!!!

The Dr said he thinks we might switch to AMANTADINE if the tests do not prove any other issues.
