On time is when your meds are working and the off is when they stop working .

You have eat something like bread or crackers .

I have to take my leva dopa on an empty stomach for them to work. I too have good days and bad days . I don't know way because I do everything the same way but it happens. I take two pills every two hours .

The question of the century! Why are some days good and some days bad? I think it has to do with so many variables of the human condition that unfortunately really affect Parkies. Tired? Stressed? Sick? Upset emotionally? Pain? Yep all those and more really do a number on us. Meditation has helped me deal, as well as trying to stay as healthy as I can be. I do my best to control what I can, like make sure I try and get enough rest, not overdo, avoid stressful situations. Sounds reasonable but not always possible :-)

I went to a specialist and they had me keep a diary every 1/2 hr for 1 week whether I was on or off. I've had PD for 14 years and I know on or off but she tried to tell me I didn't fill the diary correct so I did it another week and was told the same thing. Needless to say I fired her. Here's what I figured out on the carba-leva take crackers with the fast acting, eat an hour before or after, low or no protein, Slow release the same. I take 25-100 every 3 hours fast acting and 1 ea slow release at bedtime and during the night. Nothing ever works but I manage to walk a mile every other day and exercise, especially stretching. Good luck at learning about all this. Everybody is the same, good days and bad, no sleep, pain and it's sucks but it is a beautiful day outside so I'm going to drag myself out there and enjoy it.

On is when the meds are working and you are able to move more or less. Off is when the meds wear off and symptoms return, sometimes quite suddenly. Everybody and every day is different. My doctor says take meds with food and protein is not an issue with me. Otherwise my pill might just sit in my stomach and go nowhere:) It makes me nauseous sometimes after breakfast. Chewing crystal ginger helps. Ginger is great for seasick or any nausea. GOod luck!
