Has anyone now got a stoma because of a car accident or similar, not a pre-existing condition such as UC or Crohn's?
Got mine the beginning of November from an emergency surgery where my bowel ruptured.
Yes I had mine on the 7th Jan 2014 due to chronic constipation
Got mine due to perforated bowel. hate it! I had emergency surgery at end of March, still get lots of pain & discomfort. I'm still off work.. I know some people are really pleased to have a Stoma, as it relieves them of there symptoms, (chron's, colitis & other similar conditions). apart from a few days of throwing up, I had never had any bowel problems. Can't believe I have ended up like this.
I'm really sorry to hear that 
have they said if yours is reversible? I had mine reversed just before Xmas after 6 months with it. As much as people with pre-existing conditions said they had a much better life with theirs I honestly couldn't come to terms with waking up with one. My bowel was perforated in a car accident last June
