I'm getting a lot of cramps, mostly in my upper legs and a few in my calf's, the backs of my thighs are painful and often wake me at night. I wondered if it was C.M.T related.

Cramps
My dad who, looking back must have had some symptoms of CMT, used to get bad cramps in both legs. I rarely get them. I do get restless legs though.
Hi i was actually with my neurologist a couple of weeks ago with the same symptom. He tested me for excessive calcium levels which came back negative. He asked around other consultants who have knowledge of CMT and they have decided that this should now be classed as a symptom of CMT. Hope that helps.
I get it between my ribs as well, so know how painful it is.

Have you gotten anywhere with the rib ones? They come in waves for me, I'll have a month of non stop symptoms, then a free month. I used to get them so bad that I would have trouble breathing. When I would go to the hospital after 2 hours of this, I was told it was in my head. No one has heard of CMT here and it's not listed in the med dictionary my GP uses...
Thank you for your replies
Hi, yes I get this from time to time at night. It can be pretty painful.

I have been drinking tonic water twice daily and it seems to be helping, apparently the quinine content helps.
Hi, I do get cramp in various parts of my body for no particular reason, which is quite painful. I have drunk tonic water, but was told by my G.P that there is not enough Quinine in the tonic water. So am prescribed 400mg. I have to say this does help. Try to eliminate caffiene and asparteme from your diet. Let us know how you get on.
