Hi, as CMT is fairly new to us I wonder if anyone can recommend an insurance company that will cover for CMT? My son is five and just diagnosed, I am trying to sort out our holiday insurance, but declaring it as a pre-existing medical condition I have so far found companies will not cover him. We are traveling to Europe. Many Thanks.

Hi
I have cmt myself and have just gotten my travel insurance through sainsburys. I declared that I have cmt and it said that there's no change to the policy. I have also used allcleartravel.co.uk as they come in pretty reasonably. This time we're flying to Australia so was surprised that sainsburys worked out cheaper but we did get a discount doing it online and we have a nectar card.
Hope that helps

Sorry should have said that we've used allcleartravel.co.uk for insurance to both Australia and Spain, they're like a comparison site so you just choose the policy you want from whichever company will provide all you need.

Hi. My son is 2 and recently diagnosed with CMT 1A. We are going abroad in September to Europe and used Insure and Go on the internet. There was no increase in the total amount for our family insurance by declaring his condition and you can choose the level of cover you want too. Hope that helps. Sarah
I have used both Insure and Go and Also Essential Travel and Staysure. CMT now seems to be a recognised condition on most insurance sites but it may be shown as peroneal muscular atrophy also
I was going to suggest Insure and Go - I've had insurance for myself and my daughter, to the States, through them - and there is no additional cost.
There are specialist websites like AllClear Travel which specialise in pre-existing conditions, but they tend to be a lot more expensive.
