Gabapentin and withdrawal

While suffering depression I researched anything that I thought could be causing it and came up with .... Gabapentin! I had already stopped taking Atorvastatin statins because of side effects that had built up over the years so now the Gabapentin has got to go too. Originally prescribed for hot flushes and peripheral neuropathy (which was actually being caused by the statins!) the Gabapentin does help the flushes. But I can not tolerate the depression, the swollen fingers etc. So, I am beginning to slowly taper off this vile drug, which was originally only prescribed for seizures, and would like to know what to expect and how long before this depression passes.

I was on gabapentin but switched to pregabalin because of eye problems. I do know that both need to be tapered of slowly over a couple of weeks as otherwise you suffer cold turkey symptoms.
