Not sure if feeling anxious is a symptom of hyperthyroid or jus ageing. I have no idea where a confident person went and changed into an anxious over thinker scared of most things,

Hi Guillemette,

Yes anxiety and nervousness are common symptoms of hyperthyroidism. It may be a good idea to have a checkup with your GP's so they can review your medications and symptoms just in case it is or isn't related. Take a look at the NHS Choices website: nhs.uk/conditions/overactiv...

Hope this helps,

Great reply from MAS_Nurse and hope you get some answers soon. Take care xxxxx

Hi Guillemette,

I can sort of identify with some of the things you say about anxiety becoming more of an issue as you age. I don't want to drive the car any more, for example, and I sometimes think twice and three times about some of the things I did in a carefree way earlier in my life. I don't like coming home on my own after dark any more, for example.

But if it amounts to more than that, then you really should go and see your GP, as MAS_Nurse suggested. I see that, over the years you have been worrying about this, and that on one occasion your optician suggested you might take it up with a doctor. There are several causes of anxiety and nervousness that are physical in nature, so don't sit and worry about it. Go and discuss this with your GP and get some professional help and advice.

Very best wishes.
