I participate in a weekly 'chat' on Sunday evenings on Twitter. It's a gathering of runners from the newbie to marathoners. It is sponsored each week by vendors in the running community. I have found it to get a great way to meet other runners, as well as educational. At the end of the chat, two participants are randomly picked to win a prize from the week's sponsor.
