The British Tinnitus Association has investigated this.

I quote from their website:

melatonin is only available on prescription in the UK and licensed only for treating insomnia in the over 55s.

BTA opinion on this treatment:

The evidence levels for melatonin supplementation treating tinnitus are low. Melatonin should only be obtained via prescription and taken under the supervision of a medical professional.

“Dietary supplements should not be recommended to treat tinnitus but could have a positive outcome on tinnitus reactions in some people

Hope this is helpful

Yes it will lhelp your brain rest n sleep peacefully, but do nothing on T. Sometimes it also make your T spike the next morning. Perhaps it works only for certain people. Good luck n take care mate....

I have used it for sleep for the last two years. In the States, it is sold over the counter and it is largely up to the individual to decide when and how much to take. I have pulsatile tinnitus and when rested, it does seem to calm down - since its origin is the turbulence associated with carotid fibromuscular dysplasia (wonky arteries near my ear).

Hi chria-104! Do you understand why BTA says this? “Dietary supplements should not be recommended to treat tinnitus but could have a positive outcome on tinnitus reactions in some people" I can't believe it. Nobody realize about the contradiction? Ones with T are suffering, we are not joking. ONE!! of us that get a relief is enough.

Hello!! Perhaps these things might help you: 1. You must keep your blood pressure low as you can and is important to control whether you snore. 2. Take Magnesium L. Threonate (Only this Magnesium!!!) 3 hours before bed. Look for information, this magnesium is really good for brains. 3. Do you know Mimicking fasting diet of Walter Longo? In Argentina there aren't doctors to guide us with this diet, perhaps you can find one. 4. Look for white noise that fits for you. Otin Lucas on youtobe has many and very different white noise masking sounds, which can help you. Yo must found one that, putting it at an adequate volume, clearly makes your T almost disappear. 5.And finally homeopathy might help you too. I’m getting “chininum sulphuricum” and “cuprum” Two things that chinese Homeopath use for T. I’m doing all of these at the same time and my T is going down little by little. I wish you much luck!!
