I was diagnosed with this about four years ago by a gp at my surgery who specialises in ENT. She gave me vestibular rehabilitation exercises to do for two weeks (google it). The ones where you have to lie down made me vomit but I persevered with the others.

After two weeks no improvement. So she performed the Eply procedure on me. This worked well for about a year, then I got BPPV again, had another Eply which, again, worked for another year.

Then I got it again, and my gp performed the Eply yet again. This has only partially worked. So I still get vertigo but not as bad. I know which head and body movements set it off, so I try not to do those movements.

The third time I had the Eply I vomited (in the surgery) and could not drive for several weeks. So I’m not going to have the Eply again unless I am desperate. If I’m feeling queasy in the morning I take Prochlorperazine which was prescribed. There are also exercises to do which you can get through NHS and search for “exercises for older people”, one of these is for balance.

I think you can buy the Prochlor .... over the counter at a pharmacy, I have not had a repeat of the prescription since last December.

I rather doubt if you could get the Eply at the moment as it means close contact between you and the doctor. However, there are demonstrations of this on UTube so you can have it performed by someone in your household.

Hope this helps! Get back to me if you think I can give you more information.

Hi I had a session of Eply but I don’t think it has done any good I was told not to bend my head forward but that’s hard to do as I have to bend down ian doing exercises which hopefully will help .

Yes and doing the Eply maneuver at home took care of it. It worked for my husband as well. There are some fantastic videos from doctors on YouTube that explain how to do it.
