Getting very panicked now by the seeming ignorance of doctors where I am registered, I had drops to soften impacted ear wax, had my ears suctioned and was then on Cilodex for 9-10 days of ear drops

The tinnitus has gone 10 x worse, its so intense that its now unbearable, I cannot really do anything, listen to music, traffic noise is deafening, phone calls hurt, theres cracking and rumbling afraid I will lose hearing in that ear

What can I actually do they said it would take 2 months for an ENT appointment do I just have to suffer for 2 moths !!

Any advice appreciated I'm desperate now

Andrew

Hi Andrew

I can symphony with you.

I did find that having my ears suctioned out did bloody hurt my ears as the machine was an ultra sonic and I actually very nearly passed out from the hi pitch noise

My ears hurt and we’re very sore for about a month and i couldn’t handle any noise it drove me crazy

May I suggest you get a soft flannel and put some nice warm water on the flannel then wring it out so you don’t get your ear water logged and just place the flannel over the ear while laying on your side.

This will relax the muscles in the ear and with doing this should calm your ear a little.it feels nice and soothing.

Other than that it’s just try to ignore it

I get it where it’s so loud my actual inner ear feels as though it’s vibrating and it’s so annoying.

I hope this helps a little

That sounda quit pleasant I'll try it!! I think I've got some kind of infection in my ear as well as tinitus. ..thanks for your suggestion!!

I get really bad spells of ear pain that reduce me to tears - I use a hot water bottle as that confuses signals. Panadol if I have to leave the house & drive. Friend suggested ear calm over the bank holiday - available from boots - it did make a difference and could avoid GP.

Hi Andrew

You will meet lots of others on here with similar horrible stories Im afraid. Our sympathies are with you. First thing is to try and get some calming or mindfulness routines ready for the moments that you cant cope. There are lots out there in apps and books etc. Once you can control the panic and break the anxiaty cycle the pain will lessen and with luck one day become managable. Drugs IMO dont work full stop. All I would say is that headaches that are the result of fractured sleep and or the constant noise can be treated by normal paracetamol or stronger, but not Im afraud the direct cause.

My T came on in February after a year of unbearable stress and berivement , just one day woke up with a screech / whistle in my head - I cant even place it! I waited months for a ENT specialist - never happened, so in desperation I went private. It is the best thing I have ever done! the Diagnosis is inevitable but still better to hear than say Tumor or anything much worse (if that exists) but after that a specialist T professr has taught me how to handle the days and nights and the mindfulness required to take back control. Better still has given me hope that my type of T (stress related crecendo T) may one day go away...?

Meditate - break the cycle - reduce anxiety.

If you can go private gt help - but remember there are no drugs

Keep on this forum

I know its a shock but hopefully this will help

Many thanks yes I hear it's related to stress , this all started after lockdown happened I list all my work and broke up with my girlfriend which is a sort of bereavement, plus a gang of druggies moved in next door keeping me awake at night! So yes lots of stress! I'be cut out alcohol, reduced caffeine, and watching leas tv etc ....I do already feel calmer as I'm simply doing less. ..more time to think and contemplate. ..it's hard when the noise gets so intense though. ...bit panicking won't help!! Seeing a doctor later hopefully a good one that understands problem, many don't seem to!! Thsnks for your reply snd I hope your condition improves amd eventually dissapears. .

I'm sorry to hear that you are having difficulties following the ear cleaning procedure and that these have continued.

I would echo the advice which our community has offered - a lot of good, sensible advice in the responses you've received above. What I would also say is that people with tinnitus can experience temporary spikes in the condition after an ear irrigation procedure (by no means all people, but certainly a percentage).

Pain shouldn't accompany tinnitus - it may be connected more to the impacted ear wax and any difficulties in extracting it. And I do think that Jim's advice about having a recovery plan for a bad tinnitus spike is very helpful - controlling any panic before it takes over is going to help a lot.

Take care

Many thanks Pat I think I may have an infection in my ear which is contributing to the 'pain' ...my hearing is distired and loud high pitched sounds like a spoon against a glass is unbearable ...I also have hyper acusisso it's all a bit messed up in there! !

Thanks again to everyone on here!!
