I've had tinnitus a few weeks now. Like another member, I've been given sleeping tablets and diazepam.

The diazepam was given after the doctor was concerned with my mental well being.

I went to the ENT department of my local hospital. I have been in before with a left ear issue. The response from the consultant was, " it's only been 2 weeks so it's still early but you've got underlying issues so ... " He then told me to go home relax and listen to a clock.

I'm at my wit's end.

Hi Rocketmantom

Exactly how I’ve been left!

I’ve come to understand they can’t just switch it off, that’s fine, but to just be left has really made me feel abandoned and lost in my own little world.

I know my mind and body and have explained this to the doctors but have been given no firm advice. 2 doctors have wanted to refer me urgently to ENT but ent wanted me seen by ambulatory care to rule anything else out, they told me I had an infection and after the antibiotics it would clear everything up! 2 days later I was back at a&e as was vomiting and was told no infection and I should be seen by an audiologist but to go home and do nothing for a week or two, easier said than done when your going crazy and then worried about money!

Still no referral to either ENT nor audiology has been made!!

I just want a hand getting through this bit and relying on diazepam is surely only going to make me reliant!

Also at my wits end so your not alone!

Have a look at the BTA site. There's some very good AV stuff. I know it's sorted my head out.

In the early days I felt the same - I was reassured by ent that my mri 2 years ago was fine. It does get easier with time - i am 9 months in. ...but those early days were a nightmare. I made a switch a month ago from zoplicone to mirtazipine - I am coping better. I managed to get one appointment with an hearing therapist 7 months in- reviewed again in a year. Push for ent referral. I had to explain how bad it was to access

Taking as a consequence of no sleep from tinnitus - balance has improved - 3 month sinus infection and a year of building work at my place of employment are more likely sources. Just adjusting to air conditioning and high pitched noisy fan in new building....and trying hard to stay rational about it.

Hi I was very interested to read that your balance has improved since taking diazepam as I’ve been given it for muscle spasms but I also have balance issues I’m only on 2 mg at night but am wondering how much your taking and how long before it helped your balance

I'm sorry to say it but I feel sometimes that these ENT are morons. After scene 4 EMT you always get the same results. Tried to get apps with music to help you with the tinnitus. Try to stay busy and keep your mind off it that helps sometimes for me.

Same here I have Tinnitus for 3 years

Now and I use to get the same response

From Drs when I thought it was losing my mind , there not educated on Tinnitus

There’s isn’t much research done I’m from

United States and the only research being done Is by Indiana State University.

My dr prescribed me like 6 months ago

Aprazolam (Xanax) 1mg a day and it has lowered the Tinnitus a lot but sadly it never goes away as they say.

Hope the diazepam is also lowering your noise level it’s seems to go along with Anxiety too!

Best of luck and Hope we all find silence

Someday

Please try Bose sleep buds I feel rotten during the day but sleep well at night .they are expensive but tiny and have many different sounds to mask the tinnitus .they fit snug into your ears and don't affect anyone else. I actually sleep better with them than I did before I got the tinnitus.you can wear them during the day if you want.there are about 20 sounds but fire place is the best

Rocketmantom, please, hang in there. Remember: it's not a real sound. It's not a real sound. Your brain is trying to tell you something. It's not a real sound. From a fellow sufferer: all the best buddy.
