As we've said before you are a long way from transplant so don't even think along those lines. If you have alcohol related liver disease you have a lot of hoops to jump through before you even get a t/p assessment. You arn't yet even under hospital care.

A high protein diet, eating little and often will be key. British Liver Trust website has good information on diet and liver disease.

I’ve just read back through your posts which go back quite a way. Have you managed to stop drinking yet?

It feels like you have high levels of anxiety around your drinking - which will both lesson if you make steps to stop, and the pathway to medical help will become clearer.

Have you had any recent bloods or US SCANS? Any results? Mostly, are you still drinking? If you are, these anxieties will not improve.

It also feels like you need some support and somewhere to talk confidentially… I really recommend finding a loca AA group and giving it a try - there, you’ll find many people who understand the mental addiction very well.

I wish you the best

When did you have the scan saying you had cirrhosis? You've said this week that it was an ambulance paramedic who said you had cirrhosis and that you were awaiting an ultrasound. The fibroscan you had in February was clear and unless you had a complete acute liver failure I doubt you've fallen into advanced decompensated cirrhosis in this time. Your GP would also take action if you are presenting with such severe sympyoms.

I realise you do have issues and the cognitive difficulties perhaps associated with the Korsakoff which you keep mentioning but a lot if your posts are contradicting themselves.

Well done for stopping the drink. If you’ve been diagnosed with cirrhosis you’re probably getting regular clinic appointments and you might have a specialist liver nurse who can give you support. There have been lots of posts on here over the years from people in your position who have turned things around and not needed a transplant so try not to worry. Keep off the drink, eat well and keep following doctors orders. Baby steps, keep going

Hello

As other forum members have said, we would urge you to seek medical advice if you are concerned about your breathing. You can call NHS 111 for advice.

Best wishes

Hi and sorry you are going through all of this right now, you are clearly anxious about your health and the issues you claim are effecting your health which again I’m sorry you are having to experience, but if you have ascites and are struggling to breath you need to go to the A&E straight away.

If you have actually been diagnosed with ascites which is usually done through an MRI/MRE and or an Ultra Sound you will have been given a care and treatment plan which usually involves being prescribed diuretics, told to limit your sodium intake and perhaps fluid intake and you will have also been told about other options that your doctors may consider such as draining the actual fluid out of you which is an actual medical procedure they can do for you as an outpatient or an inpatient if your are admitted.

Are you on any duiretics and have you actually been diagnosed with ascites? If this is a sudden onset of ascites as a complication due to you having cirrhosis or you feel it’s ascites, again you need to visit an A&E straight away. Here in the U.K. if that’s where you are based you will be seen to, they can’t turn you away, they will assess you and determine if you have ascites, if so you’ll likely be given diuretics at first and not actually drained which they will only do if it’s basically a matter if life or death.

If you have cirrhosis you should be under the care of a hepatoligist and of gastroentolist, most are under the care of both departments if they have cirrhosis where you will get regular 6 monthly check up appointments at the least where they basically monitor your cirrhosis by taking regular bloods, taking scans and you may also get regular phone calls from the cirrhosis support nurse.

Also if you have cirrhosis, your GP will know this and while good luck trying to get seen to at your GP, I’ve found if you’re pushy and don’t take no for an answer, because of your condition, you will get seen to eventually sooner rather than later. Again if you’re here in the U.K. they can’t turn you away at A&E, you will be seen to and the same applies if you visit your GP. Your health is the most important thing right now to you or should be and if I was in your position struggling to breath with what you claim to be ascites, I’d head straight to my local hospital and demand to be seen to.

Good luck and take care.
