A lot of 'packet' vegan products are highly processed, they may have high salt content. Check the ingredients.

I’d agree with others…bought vegetarian sausages are highly processed and full of salt and chemical additives. They are not good for our livers. I have a vegetarian friend who loves sausages and makes their own. It’s breadcrumbs, chopped onions and walnuts, dried mushrooms which have been rehydrated, cooked green lentils, mixed herbs, tomato purée and celery salt all bound up with 2 eggs. Blitz them in a food processor for a couple of seconds and then shape them into sausage shapes. Wrap them tightly in cling film to hold their shape. Steam them for twenty minutes with the cling film on. Then put in the fridge overnight once cool. Take off the cling film and either bbq or fry them. Delicious. They are healthy (go easy with the celery salt) are made from liver friendly ingredients and you know what’s in them!

That's great, be nice to know the quantity for the ingredients? I'd love to try them.

1 onion, 1 clove garlic, 5 g of dried mushrooms (dry weight) you need to soak them for an hour before use. 200 g cooked green lentils, 125 g breadcrumbs, 125 g ground walnuts, 2 teaspoons of dried mixed herbs, 1 or 2 eggs depending on size, 1 tablespoon tomato purée, 1 teaspoon of celery salt.

They are really tasty. I’m not a vegetarian but I don’t miss the meat when I eat these. I love them with baked beans and low fat coleslaw. Nice chunk of sourdough bread with them and it’s a fantastic meal.
