Brilliant
spot on …….. brilliant 🤩
That’s amazing! So clever sounds so simple. Would love to know the results from the people who were on the trials. I’m sure this is something we are going to hear more about in the future.
Well done to that team 👏
This story broke yesterday, please see "Liver Disease Reversal" posted by Bs1524, I have added a link to the Channel 5 news presentation from last night in which Prof Rajiv Jalan explains his invention, after all, it is his baby. Well done Rajiv.
HI I noticed after I posted. This could be a game changer
wow, this is amazing news, what a break through , thanks for posting this xx
Statement for the British Liver Trust:
This research is promising and could in the future have implications for people with serious liver disease who are being treated in intensive care. However, this is a small preliminary study and there is a long way to go before we understand the real benefits of this liver assist device and how it can be used in a clinical setting. We look forward to seeing larger trials to confirm its potential role.
Hi,I find it fascinating that unlike the kidney the liver can regenerate, if it is given the chance for a respite from functioning badly perhaps it might have a chance to improve. Also the reduction in pressure will presumbaly help with the portal issues.
All speculation of course but it seems like this could be the game changer in liver treatment. No doubt the build cost will be significant but unlike drug treatments once the artificial livers exist the marginal costs will be lower than drugs.
I suppose the service will need to be triaged and that the most serious acute cases will get first dibs.
