painkillers
Hi Diane. I am a 60 year old female. I have osteoporosis, osteopenia, osteo-arthritis, fibromyalgia and liver cihrossis (compensated - it was decompensated but has now improved and gone to compensated). The cihrossis is my fault. I drank too much. I've now been teetotal for nearly 2 years.
Regarding painkillers, I'm in continual pain. Clearly no paracetamol as I have liver issues. Co-codamol works but it's addictive and has paracetamol so I don't take it. I was put on pregabalin. That did work and I also take naproxen. Pregabalin caused serious weight gain so I was swapped to tramadol. Tramadol did not work for me - itching and terrible swelling in my feet and ankles. I was swapped to Dulexotine about 3 weeks ago. I checked with my hepatic consultant as it warns that people with cihrossis shouldn't possibly take it. But the hepatic consultant said it was OK.
It really is trial and error with everything. Might suit me - for someone else they may react differently. I'm also under the pain clinic too who have been absolutely fantastic. Speedy, they explained every option available to me painkiller wise. If you are not under a pain clinic - I would give that a go. Not sure if I have helped at all. Sending you my best wishes Golly
