sertaline : is it alright to take the... - British Liver Trust
sertaline
I was taking sertraline 100mg a day .. took them for 2 years ..I used to be f4 fibrosis, end stage liver disease, now I'm f3 .. Best person to ask if the GP who prescribes them or your liver consultant.. I'm now on amyltriptiline, only recently to help with my anxiety
Hello there,I'm similar to millie,I was also on sertraline for 2 years,i double checked with my liver nurse was it ok,as it had been issued by my gp....and she was happy for me to be taking it with liver cirrhosis. Although over time it wasn't doing the job, so was put instead on mirtazapine, again I double checked, again liver nurse was ok with it.
Take care. Chris
Hi I took sertraline pre transplant for my itching and it really helped. I didn’t have any side effects. I had my transplant 6th Jan and was weaned off it about 3 weeks ago (stopped gradually as it is an anti depressant). Didn’t have any side effects coming off it. Ask consultant about it if have any concerns as I had people saying you don’t want to take that. My consultant reassured me though and explained why sertraline was chosen as opposed to anything else thanks
Yes my wife was taking it before she had liver problems took it all the time still takes it after transplant
I was prescribed Sertraline pre transplant. I had no idea why, tried it and stopped. I think they prescribed it as I had a mild form of HE so maybe I wasn’t all there. To be honest I was in such shock being told I needed a transplant, I never took it all in and went through the motions.
They prescribed it for my itching issue, but every time I took it i was very sick. Throwing up. Had to stop taking it.
