Help needed

Hi, after a bit of help here pls. I had Ggt of 699 that has reduced to 479 & alp of 332 reduced to 279. I did have slightly fatty liver but dr has said it’s gone past that now but has not told me what’s going on. I’ve had an ultrasound recently which was clear but have had no follow up calls from drs. I’ve spoken to BLT & they said I need to get a referral to heptalogist & a fibroscan. I’ve tried to get an appointment with drs but I never can so I asked receptionist to talk to dr & get back to me but I’ve heard nothing. Anyone know what else can I do pls.

Hi, I think you need to be persistent and ring the GP as soon as they open. That’s the best way to get an appointment. My GP only makes same day ‘emergency’ appointments. The receptionist has told me that if it’s something that needs to be investigated, say it’s urgent even if you would normally have asked for a non urgent appointment. Failing that, ask for a nurse appointment. Talk to them about it and they’ll go and talk to a GP. Tell them what the BLT have told you.

Alternatively, does your surgery have an online consultation system?

If you ring in the afternoon when the receptionists aren’t so stressed, sometimes you can have a better conversation about how you can get a referral. Even if it means ringing back early the next morning to book an appointment.
