Hello Whai, Your profile says you are in Ghana. I don't know what access to medical care and treatments is like there. Usually Hep B can be kept under control with anti-viral medication. If not controlled it will eventually seriously damage the liver.

Whai, not sure of your circumstances and if you recently acquired hep B or had it from birth. It makes a difference to how you manage it - if acquired recently your body may shift it and if chronic regular monitoring and/or meds will manage the condition.
People live fulfilling lives with hepB - not sure if diagnostics are available to help determine how this condition has affected you and if you have scarring etc.. Not all carriers are on anti virals if no scarring, low viral load and liver is functioning normally.
Whai, this is not uncommon even in the UK. 20 years ago a friend discovered she had chronic hepatitis B from being pregnant with first child. The screening programme was in its infancy. She now has 3 healthy almost adult boys and all vaccinated.
She was shocked as had no idea and often people who know no better thinks the person has been promiscuous or doing drugs as all they hear is "Hepatitis"
In her situation her father is the carrier and likely infected the mother; chose not to tell any of the children. No idea if the friend asked her siblings to be tested. There's still a certain taboo and should not be.
Hepatalogists want to eradicate hep B in the UK but the world is a melting pot and countries don't always check and vaccinate at birth as and when required. My friend isn't an isolated case and if she chose not to tell her siblings, the siblings may be carriers too and in turn infected their children when testing wasn't in place yet. Hepatitis B often has no symptoms.
I am supposing your baby is vaccinated as this was when it was discovered? Your partner?
Flurry of diagnostics and tests initially; now yearly bloods for viral load and liver enzymes. No meds. There's no reason you can't live a full life. If you have acess to tests, it's worth keeping on top of it all and find out if you have scarring etc ...
Hope this answers your question and gives you some peace.
**no meds as viral load low enough. No scarring. Liver enzymes good.
