Ive had high ferritin for a number of years (450 or so). Various tests done, not haemoochromitosis. Suspected NAFLD. I had an Ultrasound done in may this year, followed by an MRI. Was told result of Ultrasound was very fatty concentration in one corner of liver and then there was a spot they couldnt see. Hence the MRI. When discussing the MRI the word " Cirrhotic" was used. This was a quick phone call with hospital talking to a nurse, and not my gastro doctor. Have appointment with gastro doc this week but am very worried due to use of word Cirrhotic.
As far as i know other than ferritin results my lfts have been normal. Ive no symptoms of cirrhosis. Losing weight this year and massively reduced alcohol from 12 pints per week ( over 2 days) to 4 or 5 per week or frequently none at all. None at all since use of word Cirrhotic.
Ive always understood cirrhosis to mean the entire liver so im confused as to how an Ultrasound would show very fatty liver and no cirrhosis but an mri shows Cirrhotic. Can you have partial cirrhosis?
Any insights would be welcome before talking to doc.
Thanks
