Follow up Fibroscan

I had my 6 month follow up 2nd Fibroscan. It appears that things have improved some, my kPa went down from 8.3 to 6.8 and CAP reduced (still in S3), bloods are all within range (some borderline). I am happy that some of the life style changes have made a difference, I still need to do a lot better.

I must say I didn't really expect an improvement, I actually thought it might have gotten worse as my URQ pain frequency has increased as well as I started itching quite a bit. My doctor didn't seem too concerned with the itching and said probably not due to Liver, as far as the URQ discomfort not really sure. Go back in 6 months for more blood and another Fibroscan.

I'd like to take this as good news, but the demon in the back of my mind cant help but think some thing is being underestimated or missed especially given my family history. Probably just being overly paranoid.

Wishing all a good day and good liver health!

Hi Jag

Obviously with the tragic events that has happened in your family it will mean liver disease will always be at the forefront of your thoughts.

looking at your result, that really is excellent news, 8.3 to 6.8 is an 18% improvement, everyone with liver problems would do anything to get an 18% improvement so that is wonderful. :)

Just remind yourself that as long as it is not getting worse, even staying the same is good news but improvements are absolutely very good news. The way I look at illnesses and weight gain is that in most cases it takes a long time to get there so we should understand that the recovery or improvement can not happen overnight. So 18% in 6 months is better than anyone can hope for and it shows exactly what happens when we commit to lifestyle changes. You are doing great, your next target is lowering that s3 but keep thinking positive thoughts, you are on track, making excellent progress and all the time you are moving away from cirrhosis it cannot get you.

Well done Jag

Dave

Hi Jag,

As Dave says on this thread, your FibroScan result shows a real improvement so well done for making some key lifestyle changes.
