I am presently in hospital, I was admitted with Numbness from the waist down to both legs.
I can't bear weight to walk, feel my bladder or bowels making it difficult to go to the toilet.
Doctors are exploring the fact I could have damaged my spine, although I can't recall anything that could have done this or Alcohol related Neuropathy which can result in Nerve damage anywhere when Liver is struggling.
My question is, has anyone suffered from this and in experience does it get better?
My first time writing one of these hope i sent correctly

Hi Bern,
We are sorry to read you are currently in hospital. Hopefully the medical team are liaising with neurology colleagues to try to investigate the cause of your numbness.
Hi Bern n welcome. I was hospitalised in May 2015 with total numbness in legs and not being able to stand/walk or support my legs in anyway. After loads of tests they diagnosed me with peripheral neuropathy even though they weren’t happy with this diagnosis but after zillions of tests they couldn’t decide on another illness to call it. I was also diagnosed with decompensated cirrhosis (both alcohol related). I discharged myself after 15 days even though I still couldn’t walk or stand but gradually with the help of a machine I bought to enable me to pull myself up and plenty of determination & help from hubby by September I was back driving (quite scary incase I arrived somewhere and my legs just stopped working again which happened a couple of times which we can laugh at now) but yes if it is this you can/will get better if my experience is anything to go by. It is very very scary and it took time to build up again I know but within 6 months you would never know anything had happened with my legs. I wish you good luck with your recovery and sorry for long reply.
Thanks for that Audittgirl, everything you wrote rings true with myself, and I do believe that's the way the hospital will be heading, I'm pleased to hear normality can return, that was my major concern. I thank you for your reply , and wish you health going forward
