Hello everyone, so my dad is in the middle of Liver Transplant assessment. So confusing.
A social worker asked me if i was willing to stay with my dad to help recovery and I said yes, I will rent an apartment by the hospital and stay with him for the first month or so of recovery and then hire home health for him. She said that social network is not the sole deciding factor but also his health. What a tricky situation as I live in another country with my own family, he has to be sick enough for the transplant but not sick enough to die from it.
They also said he is not eager to do all the physical acitvity etc..and asked me about it. What do they expect, the man went from overweight to bones in a month, he is in pain and tired.
His medical info now says he has Fluid in pleural cavity and Blood clot in vein.
I think this means he has fluid in his lung cavity, would this disqualify him from transplant?
in addition to ascites of course, but that is expected symptom.
Does anyone here have experience with liver assessment and if the above health issues effect the outcome?
