A strange couple of weeks!

Went for a blood test a couple of weeks ago as I noticed I was looking jaundice both skin and eyes.

The results...

Bilirubin 70

ALT 39

GGT 67

Albumin 55

Well I’ve been extremely worried the last couple of weeks, trying to find answers on Google as you do. Literally going out my mind.

Had an US scan today, which was clear of any liver disease and now my test results are as follows..

Bilirubin 41

ALT 30

GGT 41

Albumin 50

The consultant seemed happy that the levels had dropped so quickly, but said she didn’t know the cause. She said possibly an infection?

Any way, I’ve got a follow up blood test in 2 weeks to see where my levels are.

Has anyone else ever experienced any rise and then drop in bilirubin?

Hi Hhhhhggggg , looking at ur bilirubin levels and the fact u have noticed jaundice and ur scans don’t show liver disease I would suggest looking at NHS page on Gilbert’s Syndrome. I was diagnosed with it in December 2020 after noticing jaundice in the eyes and face and my bilirubin (unconjugated/indirect) were high. I had an infection some time ago and well before I had any liver disease and I had a ssimilar sort of pattern of results. So I would say your doctor is probably about right based on my experienced.

I’m currently queried having Gilbert’s syndrome and can’t wait to see a drop in my bilirubin levels, I’ve had a constant rise in mine since 2019 and am worrying so much

Well had another blood test today.

My Billirubin is now 28.

However my ALT is back up to 70.

Been referred to a liver specialist
