Have you had some recent blood tests? Pruritus or liver itch is often to do with a build up of bile salts/bilirubin.

Some people find that cooling the affected area helps or you can get a prescription for an antihistamine such as Fexofenadine or even the treatment which is used in PBC like Ursodeoxycholic acid

might be used.

There are loads and load of posts on here about liver itch, if you go to My Hub, British Liver Trust, Posts you'll get a search box - which says Search British Liver Trust. Type itching in there and you'll see loads of posts with various suggestions for helping with itch.

Get some upto date bloods and see if it is indeed liver related and see what doctors/specialist suggests re. treatment. If it depends on what you've eaten, keep a diet diary and see what seems to be the trigger.

Thanks Katie for your reply.I will make a appointment to get some blood test done to see if my bilirubin has come down.

I had severe itching before my transplant and 3 years after it's still happening. Strangely it only happens in the evenings when I'm not active, (such as watching TV) or during night time. I take 2 Urso capsules/day. Itching can be hell but there are plenty of things around to ease the discomfort. E46 Itch relief cream can be an easy fix for s lot of itching but it doesn't work for everyone.
