My husband has alpha1-antitrypsin deficiency but hasn't had a liver function test done for years. Would it be a good idea for him to ask for one just to make sure all is well?

His condition should definitely be being monitored. The BLT publication on Alpha1-antitrypsin Deficiency might help. britishlivertrust.org.uk/in...

Thanks as always Katie. Will get onto GP for a blood test for him.

Hello,

Has the deficiency affected his lungs or his liver ? I think Katie is right in saying he should have a blood test.

Just in case you haven't heard of the alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency support group, here is the link:

Thanks. His lungs seem to be fine. His identical twin has had issues with raised liver enzymes which is why I'm concerned that my husband should have an eye kept on his liver function. It must be around 10 years since he had a blood test.
