Any medication can have adverse effects on the liver. In most cases they don't, and this will include Allupurinol. I'm post transplant and am prescribed it, so my medical team aren't concerned about it. However, as there is that risk of an adverse reaction always keep your eye out for any symptoms that would be out of normal for yourself. The list of things yo look out for are usually in the leaflet that comes with the medication, as is the instruction of what to do should they appear.

If you are prescribed allupirinol and are concerned about its effects on your liver speak to your gp about them and they'll be happy to give you their opinion as to how it may affect you. Indeed if you are showing any signs of an adverse reaction make an appointment with your gp as soon as you can.

Good morning Jaja12,

As Kristian suggested - If you have any concerns about a medication, please discuss what this means for you and your condition with your GP or pharmacist .

Best wishes,
