Over the last year or s have been suffering from bad bloating and a pain in my right side and lower back and some pain in my hip.
My doctor has diagnosed IBS but I'm not sure about this as I'm in so much pain and my life has been hell for the last few months.
I have had a CT scan and 2 ultrasounds and the only thing they picked up was fatty liver and mentioned nothing to worry about.
i was a heavy drug user for many years and have been clean for over 4 years and wondering it this could be caused by kidney damage or liver and maybe the fatty liver could be causing ascites?
The odd thing is after a night's sleep I wake up with a normally flat stomach with some pain but not as bad as the pain later in the day.
I can not perform any kind of exercise and even walking will add to my bloating and my stomach will grow larger and my chest is tight and some issues with short breath.
Any ideas and any help appreciated as I'm at my end with this as each day is not worth living

Hi and welcome. To be honest, if I were you, I would request from your Doctor that you want a referral to a Specialist Consultant. This may take time under the current Pandemic but after you have seen the local Specialist he should deem it necessary, if required, to put your case to a Liver Unit in your nearest vicinity. This, I know, will take time but try to remain positive, keep to a strict diet linked to fatty liver and drink plenty of water to flush out your Liver/other organs. Exercise will help too.
Hi there, I'm not a medical person so cannot honestly say whether the colour of your stools would be related to IBS or not. You sound extremely worried and fretful so please contact your Doctor ASAP to discuss your conerns. This must be taken further for your own sanity.
The lower back pain, going to the hip, sounds like sciatica. Are the pains really sharp, and eye wateringly painful? I have a trapped nerve in my lower back just now, from a rugby injury years ago, and it's decided to return when I can't get access to my chiropractor. I also have IBS, but it has never given me pains as you describe. I use a TENS machine, electric heat pad and strong pain relief, namely codeine, amitriptyline along with paracetamol for relief. It could also be trapped wind, as I know that can be very painful, but has never given me pain in the lower back, just stomach and colon pain.
