From what I understand these tests are to check your bodies response to Hep B virus. A high reading would seem to indicate that your body does have the antibodies present that would protect you from the virus in the future. They develop in response to having say had the Hep B vaccine to protect yourself or having recovered from a Hep B infection in the past.

Your doctors are the ones who should be interpreting your results and explaining them to you. Ask for them to explain in simple terms - sadly too many doctors (no doubt the world over) fall into the trap of thinking patients can understand all the medical jargon.

Found this explanation on line so hope it helps :- anti-HBs or HBsAb (Hepatitis B surface antibody) - A "positive" or "reactive" anti-HBs (or HBsAb) test result indicates that a person is protected against the hepatitis B virus. This protection can be the result of receiving the hepatitis B vaccine or successfully recovering from a past hepatitis B infection.
