Hey everybody hope everyone is feeling well. I was wondering if anyone has any diet tips to follow with liver disease. I am not diagnosed yet, I have my ultrasound next week because my bloods came back normal but my physical symptoms are not right.

I also just want to say this is my second day belonging here and I am so thankful for this page. I am in extreme panic, since I’m in the unknown and the positivity on this page has really helped me from going off the deep end.

Until you definitely know you actually have a liver issue the best thing to do is have a look at the liver trust page on diet and liver disease and just follow a good healthy and balanced diet - reduce processed foods, less fat, less sugar, less salt. britishlivertrust.org.uk/li...

Specialist diets for different liver issues only come into play once you are diagnosed or have to eat or avoid stuff for a specific reason. (Dietary requirements change dependent on underlying condition or stage of liver ill health). If it turns out your issue is gall bladder rather than liver related then there might be different advice to be followed.

Hi, after a lot of research I realised that you need to change your lifestyle so whatever you do you need to be able to sustain it so it needs to be healthy.

If you look back at my posts, you will see my journey to date, I don’t eat any processed food, I eat fresh where I can and I watch my portion sizes and exercise regularly. As a result I have not only lost weight, lowered my blood pressure, look and feel better...I have been told my liver is regenerating and should be fully reversible.

My Consultant was impressed with what I had achieved and the fact that I did it in a controlled manner losing approximately 1/2 lb a week. In fact all of the Doctors I have seen have asked detailed questions as to what I have done so I have clearly done something right.

Try not to Google as you will only scare yourself silly, I did, and try not to worry and wait until your results come back.

Good luck and let us know how you get on,

Owlie

Hi Dubac1620,

Perhaps if you call your doctor's office and ask for a recommendation for a good diet that might help your anxiety.

It is good that your blood work is normal and it may be that your health issues turn out to be something other than liver disease or even if liver disease not at a more serious stage.

Improving your diet would probably help no matter what else is going on.

Wishing you the best,

Mary
