Hi all. My wife was diagnosed with NAFLD about 6 years ago during a routine operation for something unconnected. This year she seems to have deteriorated significantly.
She has cirhosis, portal hypertension and level 3 esophageal varicies some of which have been banded and more to be done next week. She sleeps an awful lot.
My question revolves around what questions should we be asking when we see the consultant next month?
Many thanks.

Good afternoon,
I am sorry to hear that your wife has deteriorated. The sorts of questions you should be asking are - how bad is the cirrhosis, what is her liver function like, is there anything else that could be causing the deterioration, is liver transplant an option.
HI love, i expect you have already thought of it but many folk find their minds go blank and questions and answers are forgotten during the stress of appointments. I find it helpful ( well, with my memory it,s a necessity ) 😧 to have a notebook handy with my questions ready. best wishes, m.b.
Yes, that's what I do. It helps me when consultants start talking as though we are in the medical profession. I try and get them to slow down and talk to me in layman's terms!! Love and hugs Lynne xxxx
