Hiya, I have cirrhosis and been having constant pain all over since I was diagnosed in December 2016. I stopped drinking straight away and still don't drink. Anyway, I went to gp about the pain she done bloods and everything was fine. So she now thinks I have nerve damage caused by the alcohol abuse and gave me Gabapentin to take. This has been quite upsetting to hear but I've only got myself to blame. I'm actually no convinced that it is that, I'm thinking it's more to do with my bones. Was just wondering if anyone has experience of alcohol nerve damage? Thanks

Have you mentioned fibromyalgia to your gp? Fibromyalgia causes widespread pain all over your body. It is diagnosed by a rheumatologist who checks for pain over 16 different points of your body.
I have had fibromyalgia for about 15 years and because of the pain everything gets put down to that. It also causes terrible fatigue. I though for tje last 2 years that my fibro was getting worse but now wonder if it's because of the cirrhosis which has some similar symptoms.
Hi, yes i suffered badly with neuropathy or nerve damage caused through alcohol, if that is what you have. I was given gavapentin which i did not get on with at all ( have a look into its history, it was developed for epilepsy etc and works by disrupting brain messages ) Eventually, i was told about A.LA or Alpha Lipotic Acid which has worked for me , you can research online or youtube but as always check with your Doctor before trying. best wishes, m.b. x x x
My dad has this due to his heavy drinking and is now wheelchair reliant.the pain he went through was unbearable.he tried that gabapentin also, but it sent him cuckoo.hes now on pregabalin and it works a treat.hope you find something that suits you and actually works.
Hi. Sorry to hear that. Yes my feet have nerve damage. Was diagnosed in January with cirrhosis. Specialist said it’s 50/50 if it comes back x
