What are effective treatments for pedal oedema?

Hi,

First step. Practical solutions; make sure you always wear loose socks, when you can, try to sit with your feet raised on a footstool ( don't have the edge mid calf) and at night lift the foot of your bed by at least six inches.

Step two, get an appointment with your GP who will examine you, take your history and perhaps consider medication to reduce the accumulation of fluid in your lower legs.

Keep your skin nicely hydrated with a good cream. If the skin becomes sore looking, reddened and warm to touch, contact your GP for advice as sometimes with oedema the skin becomes prone to infection.
