Please ask for him to be tested for alpha1 antitrypsin deficiency.
This causes liver and lung disease but rarely tested for.
Have any members of your family suffered with lung issues as this is hereditary.?
Hi,
We are sorry to read that your son is not well.
The British Liver Trust is focussed on information for adults with liver problems. We would suggest that you think about contacting The Childrens Liver Disease foundation, here is the link;
The Children's Liver Disease Foundation also has a Health Unlocked Community.
At the top of the page click the My Communities arrow - it will bring up + BROWSE COMMUNITIES, click this and you will have the option to Search Health Unlocked (top right of screen) type in Children's Liver Foundation and it will bring up there forum which you can join and which might be of more use that this adult based one.
Hope you get to Kings very soon and that you get proper answers. A liver illness often found in young children is one called Biliaria Atresia and it might be one of the conditions Kings will want to explore - especially with the obvious bile duct issues which he's showing.
Best wishes, awful when such a wee one becomes so poorly.
