I am assuming you mean statins for cholesterol. This should be something you discuss with your liver doctor. Some people do take them, some people don't but if your risk of heart attack is high then it is probably a more immediate risk to life then the NASH.

You should check with your specialist.

I saw the GP & he said he would not risk putting me on stains coz of my liver problems. my cholesterol flagged up as I am diabetic, & they like it to be below 5, mine is 5.5. GP said the risks to my liver out weigh risks to my heart on stains. Thanks for you kind replay

I am on stations with NASH cirrhosis and it was my hepatologist that referred me to the pathologist for them.

I know a lot of people can't but my triglycerides were so high because of another health problem.

So I guess the person to ask is your consultant.

Thanks :) my GP said the risks to my liver where to great! my cholesterol is 5.5 & as a diabetic they like it below 5. GP is fairly happy with that.

I think there was a study that showed statins reduced decompensation in cirrhosis due to Hep C so they may actually be beneficial you would have to ask a specialist about it.

I agree need to speak with your specialist. For me. I could never get on with stations to lower my cholesterol as I couldn't cope with the problems I had with them. I tried a few. My husband is on them and touch wood they seem to help him. As far as we know he hasn't progressed beyond cholesterol containing. I always was an awkward so and so.

Good luck with whatever is right for you.

My GP has decided that the risks to my liver are to great to go on stains.
