As I am hypothyroid I have yearly LFTs. The last one came back with elevated ALT of 50 (all other values were within range). Ever since I have been worrying myself sick. I used to drink too much though now I restrict drinking to Saturdays - half a bottle of sparkling wine (5 units). Since getting the blood test result have knocked this on the head as well.
I've currently got really bad Acid Reflux I don't know if it is because I have got myself into such a state. I am having a fibroscan at the London Clinic tomorrow - am really scared but the alternative is endless googling and driving myself silly with worry.

There are lots of reasons why your ALT could be raised, many of which could be temporary, so until you have had further investigations please try not to panic too much. Googling is best avoided until you have a firm diagnosis as there is a lot of misinformation out there.
If you are having a FibroScan tomorrow then, together with the liver function tests, this will give better idea of your liver health.
If you have had annual LFT's and this is the first time they have been raised then it would be normal for repeat tests to be done in a month or so. The GP would refer you for more investigation if the trend was continually upward.
It sounds like you are doing all the right things by watching your alcohol intake. It would be a good idea to also watch your diet, especially with your hypothyroidism. Please see: britishlivertrust.org.uk/li...
