Methotrexate

Has anybody experienced liver disease from taking Methotrexate?

Hi Cathy, I was diagnosed with cirrhosis after long term use of methotrexate and was told I can no longer take this, I was put on it about 9 yrs ago

Hi, thanks for coming back to me. What happened when you were diagnosed, I've just been left hanging after being told by the radiologist that it looks like I have cirrhosis and that it's not reversible. I've had a CT scan but can't get the results for another four weeks. What was your prognosis?

Morning Cathy, I had a scan but I had a biopsy as told this was only way to get proper diagnosis . Saw consultant for results and told end stage cirrhosis I said is it cancer he said NO end stage cirrhosis and told me to go home and look on British liver website and he would see me 6mths for scan & blood, 6mths came & went I had to ring up I had scan March and still not been sent for where I go it's like they not bothered. I have lots of pain had black stools black urine constantly feel sick hot & cold at same time. I have not been given any treatment and things not been explained it happened as I have said which when you read on here of others it's unbelievable . I am going to see GP for second opinion  though I asked before and he said he ok who I see . I am sorry I can't be of more help and I hope you get more help and info off your GP and consultant than I have X

That's awfulness! I thought I was getting poor treatment but mine sounds good compared to that. What area health authority do you come under? I'll keep you informed of what happens to me, I'm just terrified about what I've got coming to me and what to tell my family, I've kept them in the dark up to now because I really don't want to scare them. Thanks for that and I hope you get some answers soon.

Hi BizzieLizzie, got confirmation today that I have early stage cirrhosis and have an appointment with hepatolagist. They have also found a nodule in my lung, apparently something that comes with RA too. Hope you get some answers too.
