I believe that the kinds of answers you are looking for would be better found in a group focused on blood cancers. In addition to breast cancer, I am also a CLL patient (a B cell lymphoma/ leukemia). If you can tell me more about your original diagnosis and whether the R-CHOP was for the original diagnosis or whether you have also dealt with a Richter's transformation or transformation to a Hodgkin's lymphoma and been treated for that as well I would be in a better position to help you find information and groups focused on B cell lymphomas. The treatments are very different from those for Breast Cancer, and vary a great deal from one B cell lymphoma to another. Were you told that you have a particular type of lymphoma like Follicular lymphoma, AML, ALL?

I'm also not sure whether you are asking how long the R-CHOP can keep the cancer under control or what your life expectancy would be after R-CHOP. Which further treatments might be appropriate also depends somewhat on age. Some patients can be cured either with chemo or a stem cell transplant, but with many B Cell lymphomas the goal is to put the patient into the longest remission possible and then treat again if one falls out of remission.

I hope this helps! I am involved in several leukemia and lymphoma groups. The more information you can provide the better chance that I might be able to direct you to a group that deals specifically with your type of lymphoma. feel free to send a private message if that would be more comfortable for you.

Hi vipin the chemotherapy cycles depends upon the type of cancer. It takes 6 to 8 hours for one tranfussion.

Vipin

Not sure if this what you are asking....this is the understanding I have (which i learned from my Oncologist) for my regimen.

I am on Docetaxel, this infusion has half life of 11 to 16 hours in your body during the first chemo. The remaining half gets eliminated from our system after second cycle of chemo.

Cyclophosphamide : is bio transformed in to liver, following infusion 3 to 12 hours. Peak concentration in the liver happens within 1 hours.....that is why you have to drink plenty of water to clean up the toxic in liver.

Trastuzmab-Herceptin which selectively targets HER2 has half life of 12-29 days clears at 0.225 -0.378 L a day.

Since I am treated with four cycles every 3 weeks, in the second cycle, half of chemo medicine is still in my body from first cycle, and in the third cycle, quarter of first one, half of second one is still in the body.....in this trend, the medicine completely gets eliminated from my body may be 6 weeks after I finish 4 chemo cycles. In my case I had to continue Herceptin for another 14 cycles as I am HER2 positive.

Dr. Shaw will be able to explain this in better terms

Manish

Here the personal care team is more focussed on answering to all sorts of question. Moreover i volunteered for Cancer Personal Care program sponsored and funded by University Health Network and you can get all kinds of info through that. Also my naturopathy doctor who is working with my Oncologist helped me to understand the concentration, life and effectiveness and side effects of these medicines which gives us more information to make informed decisions and also to be satisfied if you are curious and inquisitive of what is happening to our body. Also it reduces the anxiety as well. I will share as much as i found out about these treatments.

Since i have a daughter my next focus is to know more on genetic in hesitance

Also i would like to know my reoccurrence factors, duration and life expectancy as i am HER2 positive grade 3+

I will share everything if anything is useful.

vipinthakral, regrets for my delayed reply.

Honestly, me being a Surgical Oncologist, I am only in touch with chemotherapy patients, who are being treated for solid organ cancers, and in those chemo protocols, my knowledge (I believe), is fairly good enough. But when it comes to blood cancers and lymphomas, they are purely treated by Medical Oncologists, and my knowledge in their chemo protocols is average.

However, if you wish, I can discuss it for you in my tumour board meeting with my medical oncology colleagues. I need you to tell me what exactly you wish to know, which I can pass it on to them.

Let us know the biopsy report, then we can discuss.

Effect of chemo last only for a couple of weeks, after it is given. It does not last life long.

Have you received your biopsy report? I had not seen the term reactive hyperplasia before. It appears that if that is what is happening it is benign and probably caused by infection. The reason for the biopsy would be to insure that that is in fact what is happening, as opposed to lymph node activity caused by something like follicular lymphoma. Rituxan is known to stay active for some time after treatment is finished. I don't know about the CHOP drugs, but can investigate if you need help with answers.
