Hi Doctor , My mom has completed her 6 cycles of Chemo and 3 weeks radiation. for Breast Cancer Stage 2, Grade 3, ER/PR+.

She has got thyphoid after 20 days when radiation finished... its now 21 days .. but her fever is still 99 degree F and generally she gets fever in night. and it will ok after one hour or 2.

Is it oki? She has become very week...

I am scared what should we do now

Sorry to hear about ur mom. After chemo and radiation all become very weak and it takes some time to recover from weakness. Diet will help her a lot but as she is having typhoid dr. sumeet will guide us what to do

we can understand your pain, but don't worry, keep faith in good all will be fine...dr. shah will guide us...but i can suggest you one good thing..i hope her TLC count is fine and if she is not neutropenic...give her lot of fruits and vegetable, minimum 3 serving of fruits and 4 serving of vegetable...like give at least 2 carrot a day bcu it has beta carotene which is good immunity booster...it will improve her health.

Thanks a lot for reply ... actually after finishing chemo she was recovering well .... she responded great to radiation... but now again she is in same condition .. even more weeker .... my main concern is fever is still not going after 21 days ...(i know fever its common in thyphoid but still ) .... feeling positive after your reply...

Both shirdi and Manish have given useful replies above. Fruits and vegetables and a proper diet do help.

As for the fever, typhoid does cause fever. I am sure you must have consulted your oncologist to rule out other causes of fever. Is the CBC normal? A course of antibiotics will surely help your mother. And to recover from fever does take a little time. Do not worry about weakness, it will all go away. During fever, your mother may not have any taste and may not feel like eating anything. At this time, give her food which she likes. Give foods of high calorie value, so that even if she eats a little, she will get some energy at least. She will recover.

I suggest you consult your oncologist or a General Physician in your area. Let us know what they say, and we will surely guide you and help you out.

GP have given antibiotic medicine.. that course completed.. because of week body its coming again n again ..so we have to just take care of her well....
