Hi there this is my first time to post anything but looking for a bit of advice I'm 5 years post op now and am considering reconstruction but I'm a bit reluctant as I been told some horror stories. Would like to hear from anyone who has had it done .

I had mine done 6 months after mastectomy, mine went fine, and at the same time, had the other side reduced to match, the only thing I find strange even now,is that the implant is quiet hard, and stays up when I lay down.
I chose to have the inflatable type, it was inserted at the same time as I had the mastectomy, and it got topped up regularly, until you get to the desired size,(I wanted to go smaller) which I did.
I am really pleased with it,bras fit now.
My consultant, has now asked if I'd like a nipple tattooed on,(thinking about this) just wonder if it will hurt.
Hi I had an implant at the time of my mastectomy, that was in may 2015
I have had no problems at all, was in and out the same day, no drip and little pain.
I am not very big 36B/C for me it worked great, I think it depends on a lot of things, skin stretching etc and if radiotherapy has affected the skin, I didn't have radiotherapy. Have a good chat with your doctor to look at all your options, everyone is different.
I've just had diep reconstruction done five years post diagnosis. I'm 8 weeks post surgery and feel great. I've another few procedures ahead of me but the worst part is over. The few days following the operation were not great but I can honestly say that as soon as I got home I improved immensely. During my stay in hospital I did ask myself what had I done but looking back those few days of feeling terrible have been out weighed by the benefits. I had an implant done post surgery in 2011 but unfortunately it didn't work for me hence the diep. Whatever one you go for, best of luck, it'll be worth it in the long run.
I am 8 days post diep and have a cleavage. Can't stop looking at it. Bit uncomfortable but doing well. Originally did not want surgery but was fed up with clothes shopping prosthesis moving swimming etc. Really pleased with the results. Just have to wait for nipple reconstruction and lifting of right breast later. I had Mr Horlock from Salisbury. Genius surgeon. Best of luck with your decision.
Thanks ladies for the positive feedback. I didn't consider it at the time but am Feb up with prosthesis moving and it's very heavy, so am considering reconstruction now.
I had my reconstruction the same time as my mascetomy. I had the muscle off my back. I am pleased with it. It can be a little uncomfortable sometimes. Just waiting for lypomodeling and nipple reconstruction. They said they can also raise the right one. If i had had a double one i would not bother with the nipple reconstruction.
