Would love to share other people's experiences after suffering from a subarachnoid brain haemorrhage, like I did 2 years ago, & still suffering with numerous side effects now x

Thank you, my lasting side effects are a constant headache which gets worse with noise, concentrating, going out etc, weakness in my right hand, sudden jerks of all 4 limbs, extremely poor short term memory, poor concentration & fatigue x

I'm just over 3 months after suffering from mine, so still got quite bad symptoms. Headaches, dizziness, concentration, memory loss and speech problems are still bad, but worst of all is the fatigue. I know I'm still earlyish on in the recovery, but it's so frustrating and I barely leave the house, or do anything.

Hi, you are still very early on in your recovery, but hopefully you will steadily improve ! Mine was 2 years ago and I have still got a headache, which gets worse with noise, concentrating & going out etc, I've not had a day without a headache yet 😥,my short term memory is extremely poor and my GP has referred me, because of how bad it is ! Also poor concentration, weakness in right hand, sudden jerks in all 4 limbs & fatigue !! I also don't leave the house much, but I am disabled with numerous other health problems. Take care xx

Hi :)

Your symptoms seem to be similar to those described by lots of people. I’ve experienced some of those things but have seen some improvement over the last three years. Improvements can and do happen as time goes on even though everyone says the first two years sees the biggest changes. Try to get enough rest - that can have a big impact on lots of things. Perhaps try to approach your Gp or Community Neuro Team to see if any further help is available? :)

I am still under the neuro team & my GP has referred me to the memory clinic, so still getting input, thankfully. I was just hoping 2 years was going to see a big improvement, but sadly not ! But my neurosurgeon said I am very lucky to be here still, & if they hadn't have done the life saving brain surgery, I wouldn't be alive, & a nurse said I am a walking miracle !! Hopefully I will see some gradual improvements over time, it's just so frustrating though !! xx

Hi , I'm 4 years post SAH. I din't have any surgery as no cause was found. I was referred to a neurological consultant 2 years ago as I was still having head pain and had an episode of transient amnesia which they weren't sure if it was connected. I started taking amitriptyline for the pain which has helped although not eliminated it. I still have trouble with concentration , short term memory and balance and fatigue ,although all my symptoms have improved. As others have said the first 2 years seemed to show the most improvement but I think that does slowly continue. For me the most troubling are the fatigue and the head pain.

I'm sure that you will continue to improve, rest and patience seem to be the key. Wishing you continued recovery.

Hi, whilst in hospital I deteriorated & needed life saving brain surgery & was in intensive care in a coma. I already take 4 amitriptyline for chronic back & leg pain, but nothing touches my headache 😥😥, I am waiting to see if the pain clinic can do a nerve block in my neck, to see if that will help !! My GP is also sending me to the memory clinic, as I failed the test, I just get really frustrated, as I have trouble finding the right words, & forget conversations that I have had, just minutes earlier !!! also poor concentration & fatigue. I thought after 2 years I would have some improvement, as it has certainly been life changing for me !! Does your head pain get worse with noise, concentrating going out etc, like mine does ? hope you improve soon x

I’m 20 years post 2 CVA’s. I’ve never stopped recovering. Even the shoulder pains many hemorrhage patients complain about is gone. Don’t ever let anyone tell you that you’re at the best you’re going to get. The nervous system loves to heal itself. Good luck to you.

Hi, it is 30 years since I had mine. I was told at the time that things could improve in the first 2 yrs and after that it was adjusting to the new me. My short term memory was very bad, I have acquired dyslexia and a weakness on the right and no perifforal vision on my right as well as epilepsy and dizzy spells and fatigue. 30 years on, my memory and concentration have improved as long as I don't get tired. I have my qualifications and my own business. I work the hours I can manage and I get someone else to do the bits I can't do. I can use my life experiences to help other people and in turn that helps me
