Advice on visiting family in hospital (Scotland)

Hi. First post and looking for some advice.

My mother suffered a brain aneurysm 7 weeks ago and remains in hospital. She is currently receiving intense physiotherapy as her ability to walk has been impacted by this event. It is a bit early to say what the prognosis will be long term, but we know this is going to be a long road to recovery and expect she will be in hospital for a long time.

I am wondering if anyone has any advice regarding rights to visitation? I know with the current Covid-19 pandemic this appears to be impossible. But it is my goal to advocate for my Father to be allowed to visit. We haven't seen her since she was rushed to A&E on the day her aneurysm ruptured, and we had a very quick chance to be with her before she was rushed to a specialist hospital for neurosurgery.

The video call option is not working, it is very confusing for my Mother. There is evidence of cognitive deficits, although it is too early to say how permanent this is. She is now in a medical high dependency ward (general) so may have people next to her who can communicate freely with their families via mobile phones or video calls throughout the day.

We are so cut off from her with no discharge date in sight. This is very distressing, and I wonder if anyone has managed to advocate to visit their family member in hospital with any success. I think seeing my Father would have a tremendous impact on my Mother's wellbeing and recovery.

Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated at this time.

Thank you for reading.

Hi my daughter has rupture brain aneurysm. I have not seen her for 2 months it has left her with sight loss. We are not allowed to see her because of covid. I understand how you are feeling. On top of all that she has now caught the virus. Hope your mum improves soon and we will be able to see them soon.
