Greetings All,

It’s been 8 months since my aneurysm and surgery. I am flying this week and taking a week long cruise. Has anyone experienced any complications with either after their surgery? I still limit my mental stimulation activities and mindful when I experience stimulation in my head. Also, I’ve been warned to wear hats on my trip. Does the sun affect us more? Thanks in advance

Hi Leila,

I still have a 5-6mm aneurysm as the procedure I had to tackle it (to insert a flow diverter device) was only partially successful - but even with an aneurysm remaining I haven't been given any warnings about travelling. I would think post-coiling you are essentially only as 'at risk' of travel related issues as the average Joe, since that medical risk factor has been coiled and sealed off.

Having said that I would always wear a hat - but that's because we lost our brother in law to malignant melanoma at 32 so sun protection is always high on the list of priorities - so not in any way because of the aneurysm.
