1.5T MRA instead of 3T MRA

So, as of yet my MRA scan came back normal. Because I am still suffering with extreme stabbing, ripping pain behind my right eye, pressure in my right temple, pain etc. (For nearly five months), I am struggling to believe that it’s not a brain aneurysm. Everyday I am absolutely terrified. I can’t eat or sleep. I’m just not functioning anymore. This is my worst fear and now I’m afraid that it’s reality. I had my MRA scan done at Lancaster with a 1.5T machine. However, I am aware that the more advanced 3T MRI machines are much better at finding small brain aneurysms. Now I’m scared that they’ve missed one.

Dont be scared. If there is an aneurysm at this stage it would be of minute risk of rupture. Find out who has the 3t mri and get your gp to refer you. It seems you wont rest until you have a second opinion. But be prepared. Tell yourself that If the 2nd opinion comes back negative you'll stop worrying.

But ask the consultant if you can stay on his list and have a scan every year. With a family history they shouldnt deny you that.

Best wishes x
